Translating and concretizing the Holy Father's agenda for the Third Millennium, as well as his vision of "a new springtime for Christian Life" (TMA, 18) has similarly been one of the core agenda of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines in the years leading to the Great Jubilee.
Towards this end, the CBCP has worked intensely to promote awareness among the faithful of the forthcoming Jubilee, guiding them to reflection and deeper understanding of the significance of the Jubilee leading to the envisioned "strengthening of faith and of the witness of Christians...conversion and personal renewal" (TMA, 42).
The course for the Philippine Church has been set by the Second Plenary Council of the Philippines and Tertio Millennio Adveniente. The decision to take to the road that will lead to the envisioned renewal and a new springtime for Christian life has been made. The CBCP has sought to lead a rejuvenated, empowered and animated community through the waning years of the second millennium to prepare for an ever greater role and mission as a Church in the Third Millennium. The discerenment and the action have begun. And it must be carried forth, addressing the unfolding agenda for the next millennium.
