LAGDAMEO: TOBIAS' HOMILY IS PASTORAL
19 April 2006 -- The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has really nothing to apologize to former President Joseph Estrada, Archbishop Angel Lagdameo, CBCP President, said Wednesday.
Lagdameo made the statement in response to Novaliches Bishop Antonio Tobias' reported apology to Estrada for Church people participation in the EDSA People Power 2. He said that Bishop Tobias could be just showing his expected kindness and consideration to Estrada on the occasion of his birthday.
Lagdameo said the CBCP never issued any official declaration or statement against Estrada and his quitting the presidential office was his own option.
He also said that if some bishops shared their sentiments with some groups censuring the alleged unacceptable actuation's of Estrada during his presidency, that was their own moral judgment.
