ECID Holds Workshop on Nostra Aetate Anniversary
December 8, 2005 -- The Episcopal Commission on Interreligious Dialogue (ECID) of the Catholic Bishops' Conference is organizing a workshop on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Nostra Aetate. The workshop that will be held on December 10, 2005 at the Martyr's Hall of the University of Santo Tomas, Manila will focus on the theme: "The Church and Interreligious Dialoge on the 40th Anniversary of Nostra Aetate: Its Challenges to the Formation of Clerby, Religious and the Laity."
Nostra Aetate is a Vatican II document which deals on the relationship of the Church with other religions.
The workshop is being organized in collaboration with the CBCP Episcopal Commission on Ecumenical Affairs, CBCP Episcopal Commission on Seminaries, UST Social Research Center and the Ministry of Ecumenical and Interfaith Affairs of the Archdiocese of Manila.
The gathering has the following objectives: (1) To find out what steps have been taken in implementing the provisions of Nostra Aetate in Houses of Formation, Theological Seminaries and Religious Organizations; (2) To review the existing curricula and activities on Interreligious Dialogue in houses of Formation; and (3) To prepare people who would carry out the challenges posed by Nostra Aetate in promoting Interreligious Dialogue.
The Most Rev. Antonio J. Ledesma, S.J., D.D. vice president of the CBCP and chairman of the Episcopal Commission on Interreligious Dialogue, will deliver the keynote address. (Mark Tallara)
