Pabillo named Auxiliary Bishop of Manila
24 MAY 2006 - Pope Benedict XVI appointed today Rev. Fr. Broderick Socuaco Pabillo as Auxiliary Bishop of Manila. The Vatican's official announcement of Fr. Pabillo's appointment was made 12:00 noon in Rome today (6:00 pm Manila time).
Pabillo is currently serving, since 1999, as Parish Priest of the St. Ezekiel Moreno Parish in Macarascas, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
Born in Negros Oriental, the 51-year old auxiliary bishop-elect was ordained priest in 1982. After finishing his primary and secondary education at the Don Bosco Academy in Pampanga, Fr. Pabillo spent his college seminary formation in Don Bosco College Seminary, Calamba, Laguna and subsequently took his Theological studies and earned his Bachelor Degree in Sacred Theology (STB) from the University of Santo Tomas Central Seminary in Manila.
Thereafter, in 1983 to 1986, Fr. Pabillo took his Licentiate Degree in Sacred Scriptures (SSL) at the Pontificium Institutum Biblicum in Rome.
After his prebyteral ordination in 1982, Fr. Pabillo first served as administrative staff of the Don Bosco College Seminary in Calamba, Laguna, and in 1986 to 1988 he was assigned as assistant parish priest of the San Ildefonso Parish in Bangkal, Makati, Metro Manila.
The new auxiliary bishop-elect also held two major positions at the Salesian Theologate Seminary in Paranaque City, Metro Manila - as Oeconomus and Professor in 1988 to 1996, and as Seminary Rector in 1996 to 1999.
