Youth Vigil for Pope on April 7 at UST Grounds
The youth that John Paul II loved so much can express their love for him during the Youth Vigil for the Holy Father being organized by the Episcopal Commission on Youth (ECY) of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines and the Ministry of Youth Affairs (MYA) of the Archdiocese of Manila on Thursday, April 7, 5 to 9 pm at the Football Grounds of the University of Santo Tomas in Sampaloc, Manila.
Infanta Bishop Rolando Tria-Tirona, ECY Chairman, said, in his letter to heads of Youth ministries and organizations, up to the last moments of his life, the Popeâ€s thoughts were filled with young people. “His entire papacy was characterized by a great, unconditional love for the youth, whom he called "my dear friends."
The vigil, he said, will be a great expression of the youth love for Pope who had colored his trips to different countries with envigorating encounters with young people in various World Youth Day celebrations.
He celebration of the World Youth Day in Manila 1995 was the biggest that the Pope had attended. Some 4.5 million people came for the WYD closing Mass at the Rizal Park.
The vigil will start off with the Holy Mass followed by talks, sharing, songs, dances, from the youth, World Youth Day 95 "veterans" and stalwarts and youth from different diocese in the Philippines.
