Paalam John Paul II - Salamat sa Iyong Pamanang Kultura ng Buhay

On Friday, April 8, there will be a rally for John Paul II in the Luneta, called by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines. It is called: "Paalam John Paul II" Salamat sa Iyong Pamanang Kultura ng Buhay.

It will start with a March For Life, at 2:00 p.m., from various parishes and Life Movements in Metro Manila. The Executive Director will be Mayor Lito Atienza, strongly assisted by Brother Mike Velarde of El Shaddai.

From 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. the burial of His Holiness John Paul II will be projected on four giant screens. The video will come, live, from the Vatican, through Dream Satellite, Mabuhay Channel, a subsidiary of ABC-Channel 5. They will use the satellite facilities of E.W.T.N.

At 6:00 p.m. Archbishop Gaudencio Rosales will say the Philippine Mass for John Paul II. His homily will center on John Paul's plea, to all the world, for the Gospel of Life. Messages will be delivered by Mayor Atienza and Lay brother Mike Velarde. The rally will end at 7:00 p.m.

John Paul's principal campaign, through the last years of his life, was for the Gospel of Life against the Culture of Death. The Bishops believe that the finest way we can show our love for John Paul is to live by the beautiful doctrines that he taught us: The sacredness of marriage, the family as the church of the home, love for children, and reverence for life. This is extremely relevant at the moment, when the culture of death is stalking the Philippines, backed by foreign money.

The rally is a call not only to Catholics, but to Muslims, Buddhists, Christians of all sects, and to people of all religions. John Paul himself always felt that there should be no walls between us. At Assisi he embraced the Muslim Imam, the Jewish Rabbi, the Buddhist Monk, the Brahmin "all the children of God". This rally will concentrate not only on any specific religion, but on the deepest of all human values life. It is a group expression of the Filipinos love for John Paul II.
