The Pastoral Vision-Mission Statement of the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia
(from the First Nueva Segovia Pastoral Assembly held on April 11-17, 1993)

The loving compassion of God
impels us to confront our situation
of economic poverty, political imbalance,
cultural decadence and religious underdevelopment.
From this situation, we are called by the Lord Jesus
to aspire for the fullness of Life that he promised.

Vision

With deep faith in God,
we envision ourselves as the Lord’s community of disciples,
prayerfully centered on the Lord Jesus Christ
and faithfully following his way of generous love and selfless service.

We deeply aspire to be a Church of the Poor
where the poor among us, equal in dignity to everyone,
are co-responsible and active evangelizers;
and where the rich, in solidarity with the poor,
unselfishly promote social justice for the sake of the poor.

We envision ourselves as a Church that is truly inculturated.
Immersed in our own culture and society,
we act as a gospel leaven to renew them
with the values of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus.

Mission

With this vision before us,
we confidently place our hope in the Lord Jesus.
He gives us his Spirit and sends us on a divine mission:

to announce his integral gospel of salvation;
to promote his justice, peace and truth, freedom and love in our society;
to renew Christian families and our parishes as schools of discipleship;
to build Simbaan Sangkakarrubaan (Basic Ecclesial Communities)
that reflect our new way of being Church;
and to witness to the Lord Jesus and his Gospel
by living truly Christian lives that are maka-Dios, maka-tao and maka-bayan.

Commitment

To fulfill this mission,
we firmly commit ourselves
to implement the spirit and decrees of the Second Plenary Council of the Philippines
and the acts and resolutions of our first Nueva Segovia Pastoral Assembly. 

Led by the Spirit of God,
we are confident that our Patroness, Apo Caridad,
constantly intercedes for us on this journey
of renewing our Church and our society towards Baro a Biag ken Cristo (New Life in Christ).
