Alaminos Bishop Named
MANILA, July 2, 2007—His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI has named the current coadjutor bishop of Alaminos, Most Rev. Marlo M. Peralta as bishop ordinary of Alaminos effective June 26, 2007.
Bishop Peralta assumes the post of Bishop Jesus Cabrera whose resignation from pastoral governance of Alaminos was accepted by the Pontiff.
The news of Peralta’s appointment was officially published on July 1, 2007 at 6:00 PM, local time.
The Diocese of Alaminos has Episcopal jurisdiction over the City of Alaminos and 14 other municipalities in Western Pangasinan.
Bishop Peralta was born on July 13,1950 in San Carlos City, Pangasinan and ordained to the priesthood March 31, 1975.
He was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Alaminos on January 14, 2006, ordained co-adjutor bishop on March 31, 2006 and installed last April 26,2006.
Peralta was a member of the clergy of the Diocese of Urdaneta before he took the post of coadjutor bishop of Alaminos.
In Urdaneta, he assumed several parish assignments and diocesan offices. (Melo Acuña)
