Bro. Ely is missing in Tagaytay

MANILA, 27 July 2007—Few days after the release of Italian missionary Fr Giancarlo Bossi, a seminarian this time has been reported missing since Monday in Tagaytay City.

Bro. Eliseo “Ely” Cadivin, 34, a second year theology student of the Divine Word Seminary, was last seen at Olivarez Plaza on July 23 wearing black shirt and carrying black bag.

Cadivin was due to claim a “birthday gift” from his brother in Manila at a Western Union branch.

His last communication was a text message to his brother confirming that he already got the money worth to P1,500.

Since then, Cadivin vanished and what puzzled his superiors more is that they’ve been trying to call him but his phone only keeps ringing.

Classmates and his superiors had little clue where he may have gone as they also pray for his safety.

Seminary prefect Fr Emmanuel Menguito said there was now “real concern” for the seminarian, who had not been heard for four days now.

Meguito ruled out the robbery as possible angle for his disappearance, saying the amount was “too small”.

The priest said they had kept in contact with the seminarian’s family to monitor any latest development.

He said the city officials and police authorities had been informed about his disappearance.

The SVD community already has set up an appeal to the people of Tagaytay for information in a bid to trace Cadavin’s steps. (Roy Lagarde)
